We have been staying busy these last few weeks of summer. We had an interesting experience. Two Fridays ago Daniel had Cub Scout Day Camp. While he was gone to day camp, Matthew was at his summer program and Aaron was at work the rest of us went to Lagoon. As we were riding the White Roller Coaster we were in the first two cars. When the ride came to a stop the ride operator had not stopped the coaster in time so we went past the ride platform where we couldn't get off. That meant we got to ride it again before we could get out. Wahoo! While we were waiting on the coaster I took a quick picture. Thanks to the photobomber behind us....
Daniel had fun at day camp. His leader took these pictures and it looks like they had loads of fun.

Josh is keeping busy with scouts. He just finished his Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation and Citizenship in the World merit badges. For his Citizenship in Community merit badge he had to attend a council meeting. We went together last Tuesday. For the first hour it was pretty interesting because they talked about our city heritage days and what went well and what changes could be made for next year. After that things got a bit boring. We stayed for over two hours, but when they had only gotten through 25 of their 50 items, in those two hours we were done. I think we got a pretty good idea of how things run, though. This last Young Men activity they had a board review and also helped sort donations for the refugees. We have some pretty great Young Men in our Ward!
When we ask Daniel to go to bed at night he insists that he should stay up because he is not tired and that it is summer. Well the few times I listen to him and let him stay up...this happens:
Not that Aaron minds. We don't get loves from Daniel too often anymore so we can't complain :).
Last week it had been a few degrees cooler so I took the kids on a picnic at the park. We brought Sophie along, but she was not a fan of so many people. She barked like crazy at everyone who came within 20 feet of us. We didn't stay too long because she was being a stinker, but we did have a good time while we were there.
Last Saturday we took the kayaks out for a fun afternoon. There is a waterway that is about 10 minutes away from our house so we thought we'd go check it out. We had a fun time.
Tuesday was Sarah's birthday. I can't believe she is 8!! Aaron got up early to get her 8 balloons in her favorite colors to see right as she woke up. What a sweet dad!
Later that morning we joined the Einzingers and went to lunch and then bowling. It is crazy that school is starting next week (this past week for the Einzingers). We are trying to get some last minute summer fun in before school starts:
As we were walking out the door I kept telling the kids remember your socks, remember your socks, remember your socks because they won't let you bowl unless you have socks. Well good news is all the kids remembered their socks, but Noah forgot his shoes. I didn't know he had forgotten his shoes until I went to get him out of the car and he was barefoot. He had to walk around to get lunch barefoot and walk into the bowling place barefoot the crazy kid! His socks are in his pockets. What a stinker!
When we got home from bowling the kids had a primary activity that was a water party.
When they got home from the water party we joined G&G T for Sarah's birthday dinner at Pizza Pie Cafe. YUM!
Afterward Sarah got to come home and open her presents.
We were going to have some birthday cake, but everyone was too full from dinner to eat cake. We lit the candles for Sarah to blow out, but we didn't eat the cake until the next day.
Again Daniel insists that he should stay up because it's summer and he's not tired. Yep, he fell asleep again. Poor kid! Good thing Aaron doesn't mind Daniel's soft snores--haha!
Our garden has been going crazy this year. We have a ton of zucchini. This is what we got in a week from our garden.
I was more than happy to donate it to the Young Men/Young Women for their zucchini carving activity.
Some of the teams came up with some pretty creative things.
The kids have had fun picking the stuff from the garden. Occasionally they like to show me the weirdest shaped things they have picked. This bell pepper was definitely one of the weirdest ones I have ever seen:
I have been busy canning the tomatoes.
I have been able to do two different rounds of tomatoes for spaghetti sauce. We have a total of 45 quarts of spaghetti sauce so far with plans to do more.

Daniel thinks he's a tough guy. He has been picking jalapeno peppers and eating them while he has us watch. We were impressed. However, he must not have been picking the hot ones because he tried eating one and it must have been super hot. He was hating life for a while. He hasn't eaten one since then--haha! Here he is eating a mild one:
Noah's other top tooth has been super loose, but he won't let Aaron even come close to it. Well the other day he was doing something crazy. I don't know exactly what happened because I was at the store at the time when I got a call from Daniel saying that Noah had lost his top tooth. Somehow Noah had kneed himself in the mouth and popped it out. It was ready to come out at any moment so I am sure it didn't take much to get it out. Now all Noah wants for Christmas is his two front teeth.
That dang Tooth Fairy forgot to come the first night so Noah wrote her a note. The note says, "Dear Tooth Fairy your the best in the world". Amazingly enough that note got her to come visit the next night--haha!
Yesterday we went to Lagoon for a few hours while Matthew was at his summer program. It was a fun little visit.
Yesterday Sarah got to have her birthday party. Lately things have been pretty crazy so her birthday party got put off by a few days. Luckily, we finally got the invitations out so we could have it. Sarah was so excited! We started off playing a few games, then we ate pizza.
Next we opened presents and played a few more games.
We then had some birthday cake.
Last we watched the Angry Birds movie. It was a crazy night with 13 kids here, but they all seemed to have fun. Aaron kept the boys upstairs for the most part. Noah felt like he was missing out so he snuck downstairs and started playing along. No one seemed to care so I didn't stop him. Now he can't wait to have a birthday party for his next birthday.
We signed Daniel up for Lacrosse this fall to try something different. We went and picked up all the gear last Saturday. I hope it pans out since there are only 3 kids signed up so far and they need 10 in order to have a team. Keeping my fingers crossed!! Here's Daniel sporting all his equipment:

He's a funny kid. He is sad to leave the summer program, but excited to start school. This summer has flown by. I can't believe school is just next week!! We went to pick up school shoes this past week so it is becoming more real that it is starting soon. Crazy!
