"God doesn't give children with special needs to strong people; He gives children with special needs to ordinary, weak people and then gives them strength. Raising a child with special needs doesn't take a special family, it makes a special family."--Author Unknown

Promposal, Bluey, Meet, Leadership Conference, Washington D.C.

Not too much has happened in the last three weeks. Here's a few things to update. At piano, Sarah and Noah's teacher likes to do contests with all her students to keep things interesting. If you don't know, Noah is quite competitive. The contest was to see who could have the most practice minutes in a month. At every lesson Noah would ask about the closest person in practice minutes to him then he would make a point to practice extra. Ultimately he won the contest and the prize was this big 4 foot tall Bluey stuffed animal.
Now you are thinking why would Noah want that?! There are two reasons--Noah is competitive and Noah was also going to use it to ask a girl to Prom. Before he asked this girl to Prom he did remove the 'smoochy kiss' pillow, though. He didn't want to send the wrong message to her--haha!
He asked her with some rootbeer, the Bluey stuffed animal and a sign saying 'I would be Blue-Y if you didn't go to Prom with me?' He and his friends dropped it off at the girl's house a week and a half ago. After dropping it off, Noah realized he forgot to put his actual name on the poster so hopefully she figured out who asked her and will answer back. I am keeping my fingers crossed!
Josh had his Spring Break last week. Unfortunately, I had to work the majority of the week, but Josh still kept himself entertained. He grabbed some lunch from Moochie's:
He went hiking:
Spring Break is over and he is now back to school, but he enjoyed his break.

Sarah got this letter in the mail last week.  They are recognizing her high achievement. They recalculated her weighted GPA and saw that she is in the top 5% of her 779 senior student class. Wahoo!!
Noah had a track meet last week. I was able to see his second race the 4x400 meter. He ran the 1600 mile race earlier and got a time of 5:32. Wahoo!!
Here's Noah's leg of the 4x400 race right after he got the baton:
Sarah and Noah had the opportunity to attend a Leadership Conference with the city youth council this past weekend up at Utah State. They went to classes and had a lot of fun activities. Here's a few pictures they shared with us from the conference:
They went to Rush Funplex and did all the fun things there--mini golf, go carts, laser tag, etc.:

Friday Night there was a dance as well:

They both had an amazing time. I am so grateful to the volunteer leaders that help to make this happen every year. Here's a group picture:

Occasionally, Daniel's Mission Leaders will post pictures. We got to see this one the other day. Daniel only has 4 months left until he comes home. That is crazy!!
Sophie turned 10 years old a few months ago  She is still going strong.

The biggest things that have happened in the past three weeks is that we found out Matthew's house manager got fired. I don't know why she was let go, but we are sad about it. She was so good with Matthew. That means we need to move Matthew into a new group home. Aaron and I toured some houses last week and are trying to decide which one would be best for Matthew. We just want him closer to us than where he is right now. Also we found out that my independent doctor's office where I work is being bought out by another clinic. It means a lot of big changes will happen in the next few months. My job is guaranteed until June 1 and who knows after that. I am frustrated because I am pretty sure they won't keep all of the nurses that are currently employed and since I am one of the newest nurses there I think my job will be on the chopping block. Boo!! I guess I will have to dust off my resume and start job hunting. I HATE that...Anyway, what can you do?!?

Aaron went on a business trip to Washington D. C. Between meetings he got to visit a few different places. He got to visit the home of Dr. Mudd who is the doctor that treated John Wilkes Boothe after he assassinated Abraham Lincoln:
He got to also try out a really rich cream puff. He could only eat a small portion because it was so rich:
The Washington Monument:
He got to go up inside the Washington Monument. Here are a few views from the top:

He got to also see an original copy of the Declaration of Independence:

The Constitution:
And the Bill of Rights:
