We have been staying busy lately. Here's a quick update. Last weekend Josh and I decided to go to Frightmares just to go through all the haunted attractions they have there. Seeing as no one else in our family really enjoys these except for Josh and me we went together. It was fun to spend some one on one with Josh. Even since Josh has been a little kid not much scares him. Here we are waiting to start a haunted house:
Josh even let himself get locked up with a zombie for a few minutes:It was a fun night and I was glad I had a courageous person to go with me.
Daniel lost another baby molar. Holy cow the Tooth Fairy was pretty slow this time. It took her over 5 days to visit. Daniel was getting a bit impatient to say the least!
Last weekend we spent most of Saturday cleaning up the house and cleaning out the garden. I am sad to see the garden be done for the season. Good thing we were able to replenish our supply of spaghetti sauce and salsa! Afterward we took the kids to visit Lagoon that evening. We did go through one of the less scary haunted houses. As we waited in line they have people wandering around to scare you. Matthew really didn't like this guy very well.
It took about an hour to get in. Here we are right before we started. The kids handled it ok, but they were REALLY done with scary things after going through. I thought it was an awesome haunted house because you got to walk through it with 3-D glasses on. Maybe that made the scary things a bit too scary for them, however, Aaron and I liked it.Josh was with some friends so he wasn't with us this night.
Sophie was turning into a hairy monster so we had to get her groomed finally. She always looks so cute afterward. The nice thing is she will leave her cute bows in now. She got an orange Halloween jack-o-lantern bow this time.
Let me tell you about Noah. He really is the spoiled youngest child. Every night we put him to bed and we then see him two minutes later standing in the hallway holding his pillow and saying that he needs lubs. Of course I can't turn that request down! I let him come out and snuggle with me. It doesn't take him very long to zonk out, though. I can't believe my baby is 6! Needless to say he can come get lubs as long as he wants because he has me wrapped around his little fingers!!
Last Sunday Noah came and told Aaron that he needed to shave. Since Aaron was already going to shave he helped Noah shave his frog whiskers, too. Noah was so serious about needing to shave. When he told Aaron that it was so hard to keep a straight face!!
Afterward Aaron put some aftershave on him and then Noah said, "That smells like Sunday!" What a funny kiddo!
Later that week in school Noah was filling out a paper about different parts of your body and the things you can do with them. On the head part Noah wrote you can shave it--haha!
Matthew LOVES Sophie. It is a good thing she will let him cuddle her! Every day Matthew is so excited to see her and walk her. He takes good care of her.
Last Saturday the Deacons got to do some service. They helped pick a bunch of grapes at an elderly couples home. Here's Josh posing for a grape picking picture:
Aaron will occasionally grab my phone and put some goofy pictures on it. This time he even made this picture as my wallpaper and home screen. Awesome. What is really awesome is forgetting that it is on there and then letting someone use my phone. Oh the weird looks I get. Thanks Aaron--haha!
Josh had a band concert this week. I had my CNA Instructor Orientation right before it, but luckily I was able to make it in time for the concert. I start the CNA Instructor job in two weeks just in time since I had my last flu shot clinic yesterday. Working has been keeping me busy!! Anyway, back to the concert--you can definitely tell the difference between beginning band and intermediate band! The intermediate band is a bit easier on the ears--if you know what I mean ;).
Of course Noah didn't want to sit by boring old Mom and Dad during the band concert. He went and gave G&G T his puppy dog eyes and got lubs from them. He is a bit spoiled, but don't tell him that!
This past week our elementary school had their morning with grandparents. The kids were so excited to go to school with G&G T and show them their classrooms and teachers. They also were able to have some donuts with them, too. The kids loved it hopefully G&G T did, too!
Monday Matthew had an appointment with the psychiatrist. She just wanted to make sure his medication was working and things were going ok. We see her at least every 6 months so this was a 6 month visit. Matthew spent the whole visit telling her all about Sophie. Good thing she is a good listener!!
Wednesday was Pack Meeting. Daniel got his Webelos pin and pinned it on me.
He also got his Arrow of Light which was pretty awesome. His cub leader made a really neat arrow for him. Before he got it, though, he had to recite from memory the Cub Scout Oath and Law.
Afterward you can't forget the cheesy cub scout cheer! Daniel got the sprinkler cheer.
After the awards Aaron who is the cubmaster led the activity. He talked about Halloween safety and how we can make our costumes safer. He brought some costumes for the kids to try on and talk about what was good about them and what was not as safe about them. Good thing we have accrued quite a few costumes over the years! Sarah was willing to be an Elsa with Rapunzel hair that covered her face:
After pack meeting was over it was my night to do a Personal Progress activity. I think education is so important so we had a career night where I had some guest speakers come and talk about their careers including their education, average wages, jobs, and how it has helped their families.I asked a few people and it must have been a busy night because I only got two people to agree to come and speak about their careers. Luckily, I happen to have a career, too, so I filled in for the third person. Aaron got voluntold to speak about engineering :). I had another lady from our ward who is a teacher come and talk about teaching/education. I then got to talk about nursing--wahoo!!
It turned out to be an interesting activity. I hope to do the same for the November Personal Progress night, too. Hopefully, I can find some willing people to talk about their careers :).
While Aaron and I were busy with pack meeting and personal progress, Matthew's Teachers Quorum activity was visiting the local corn maze. Matthew was more than excited to ride the train they had there. I was glad the leader snapped this happy picture of Matthew riding the train:
Today was the Halloween parade at school. Since the kids have the actual Halloween day off from school they did their parade and parties today. Here's my scary kids before they left for school.
My kids are growing up and getting their own opinions about things. I so wanted Sarah to be a princess this year, but she straight out refused and demanded that she be a witch. After much discussion I lost the battle :(. Oh well she is still a cute witch. Daniel kept changing his mind on what he wanted to be. I was glad when he finally settled for being a skeleton. Noah wanted to be a karate person zombie. I wanted him to be a shark. I actually had to bribe him with a $1 to get him to wear this cute shark costume. I am sad they don't want the cute, fluffy Halloween costumes anymore.
Here's Sarah as she walked by us in the hall during the costume parade:
Here's Daniel:
Noah was a little stinker and refused to even look at us. Oh well at least it only cost me $1 to see him wear the cute shark costume!
After the parade the first grade had their Halloween program. They are so cute! I loved listening to the same poems and songs that Sarah and Daniel did when they were in first grade, too. Noah's right in the middle of the picture with his shark costume on:
Noah still didn't want to acknowledge me, but luckily I was able to get him to look at me long enough to take this picture.
Good thing I love these kids!!
