Ok so I am really far behind on blogging, but it really isn't my fault. My phone died and had to be reset in which some pictures were impossible to find. Then we updated our computer which made everything else screwy so it has taken me over 3 weeks full of frustration to figure everything out. I still don't have access to some pictures, but what can you do?! Anyway, here's an update. We have been keeping busy. We visited the Union Station Museums and had fun looking at the updated train museum.
My kids can never pass up a good photo op!
Checking out an old style rail car:I went over to 'order' a ticket from Noah while he was behind the ticket office. He asked me, "What would you like to order?" I told him I wanted a cute Bubbas. He immediately told me, "That will be one million dollars, please!". What a crazy kid!
For a combined youth activity for the young men and young women in our ward we headed up to see the Martin Harris pageant in Clarkston, Utah. It was a bit cloudy when we left, but there was no rain. When we got there, there still wasn't any rain. I was glad to be able to go along with Josh and Matthew.
As we waited for the show to begin some storm clouds started to roll in. We were able to see Martin Harris's grave.
We also got to see his walking cane as well:
Then during the opening prayer for the pageant to start it started sprinkling. The people in charge wanted to give the storm 20 minutes to see if it would pass before they began the pageant. Unfortunately, the storm got worse and worse. You can see how hard it started raining:
Matthew was started to get a bit agitated because he really has a hard time with thunder and lightening. Finally about 40 minutes later the pageant directors decided to cancel that nights performance. All of us were SOAKED!! I haven't seen it rain that hard for a LONG time. It made for an interesting night and a long 3 hours of driving round trip. Oh well we can try again in two years since they only do the pageant every other year.
We scored some free tickets to the Weber County Fair (thanks Michonne!) which we visited. They had a reptile theme with lots of reptiles to see . All of us who wanted to hold a big python got to.

They also had a fishing pond set up to catch and release live fish for kids 12 and under. Unfortunately, Matthew was too old so while everyone else fished Matthew, Grandma T and me looked at the animals.
After fishing everyone else came and joined us. Noah was the only one that was lucky enough to catch a fish which was funny. The kids loved the petting zoo:
We walked all over the fair. By the time we left all the kids were fast asleep within minutes of the drive home.
That night as I was getting ready to go to bed I checked on the kids. This is how I found Sarah and Noah sleeping on the ground in her bedroom:
I asked Sarah why she slept on the floor and she told me she didn't want to mess up her nicely made bed. Noah must have agreed since he joined her for the night. That can't have been very comfortable!
Matthew turned 14 a few weeks ago and got ordained a Teacher in church. He has been excited to be able to help in preparing the sacrament. Aaron has been excited to have two boys in young mens. That means he can pair up Josh and Matthew and go with them for Fast Offering collection. Here they are picking up the Fast Offerings from our house:
For Matthew's 14th birthday he only wanted one thing--a Heber Valley Railroad hat. Unfortunately, they don't sell those online so we had to make a trip out to Heber to pick him up a special hat. Of course you can't go to Heber and NOT eat at Dairy Keen!! YUM!!
For Matthew's birthday we went out to Pizza Pie Cafe. After eating we let Matthew open his presents. He was so excited to see his hat. Everyone in the restaurant heard his squeals of excitement!
There is a really sweet 14 year old girl named Ashlyn in our ward that is so sweet with Matthew. She is so good with him. Matthew is always seeking her out at church and at school to talk with her and she is so patient with him. She was his peer tutor in elementary school for a year so she has known him for a while even before we moved into the ward. She made him a cute birthday present and gave it to him on his birthday. It was a BYU jar filled with candy and a sweet note. He was so excited to see her on the doorstep on his birthday. It made his night!! I am so thankful for awesome people that can see Matthew's quirky personality and still make an effort to be his friend.
It was time for Daniel to have a check up with the allergist--especially for an Epi pen and rescue asthma inhaler refill to keep at the school. While we were there they decided they needed to check Daniel's vitamin D levels to make sure they were where they needed to be since they were super low at our last visit. When they are too low it makes Daniel super reactive to everything and break out in hives almost every day which is not fun. However, Daniel HATES getting his blood drawn. When he found out that's what they wanted to do he threw a mini tantrum. He refused to leave the doctor's exam room. When I dragged him out of there he refused to get in the car to go to the lab. When I finally got him over to the lab he refused to walk in. It was pretty frustrating to say the least!! Then after finally getting his blood drawn he refused to take of his bandage for a few days. I guess he wanted everyone to see his 'Badge of Courage'. Good thing his levels were where they needed to be and we won't have to draw anymore blood for another year--hopefully! That wasn't fun for anyone involved!!
Aaron left on a business trip this last week. He went to St. Louis, but the scary thing was he was two miles outside of the city of Ferguson where they are having all the riots. I was nervous the whole time he was gone. Also while he was gone our freezer stopped working--BOO!! Luckily, Grandpa T was able to come and take a look. He had lots of help from Daniel, too. Luckily, I was able to fit most of the frozen food in our fridge and freezer inside before it was all totally defrosted.
After working on the freezer for a bit we needed to see if it would freeze again. While we were waiting Grandpa T taught the boys how to fix their bike tire flats.
Of course that had to happen while Aaron was away, Luckily, Grandpa T was able to get it working again. Hopefully, it will stay working this time. Needless to say I am a little hesitant to put too much inside, but we will see if it continues to work. Aaron was supposed to fly home that night from St. Louis, but his flight got diverted to California instead of Vegas because there was a big storm so they closed the airport in Vegas. That meant he didn't catch his connecting flight to Salt Lake. After much waiting and seeing Aaron finally was able to fly back to Vegas from California and catch a flight to Salt Lake at midnight. Wow, that was a late night!! The bad thing was Aaron had to go to work at 7 am the next morning even though he didn't get home until after 1 am. Oh well I am just glad he didn't get caught in the rioting going on in Ferguson!
A few weeks ago we did have a visit from Grandma M. She came out to see her grandson, Jason, go through the Payson temple for his own endowment. Aaron and her were able to attend the temple with him. He leaves on his mission soon to Redlands, California.
She stayed the weekend with us. The kids had fun seeing her.
