Prom, Sickness, Piano, Meets, Training, Wordle, Braces, Temple

Here’s the latest with my family.  Exciting News!!  I GOT MY BRACES OFF finally!! Yay!  They were on for about 27 months and I felt every one of those 27 months.  It is weird to have smooth teeth again.
The new Layton temple started its open house.  Aaron and I hadn’t talked about making reservations.  However, I was sitting in the living room and had just finished making reservations for our family when Aaron came walking out of our bedroom announcing that he had just made reservations for our family--haha!  That meant we had made reservations for our family at the same time without knowing what the other was doing--haha!  The reservations ended up on different days, but it was still funny.  The first reservation we got was for a Friday evening.  I had to work that evening and the clinic I was at went a little longer than planned.  That meant I didn’t have time to go home and change into a dress.  I ended up meeting Aaron, Sarah and Noah at the reservation site in my scrubs as I had come straight from work.  Oh well, it was fine.  Here we are on the bus ride over to the temple. Since I had barely made it on the very last shuttle of the night there was only our family and one other couple on the bus.  It was great.
The temple was very pretty.
We were the last tour of the night and there was hardly anyone there.  It was so nice to not be rushed through surrounded by a crowd of people.  We got to take our time seeing everything inside.  Here we are after the tour and after the sun had gone down:
Daniel’s girlfriend, Katie, and date for Prom finally answered his Promposal back.  Katie and her siblings came and put a poster with a TON of confetti all over the front porch. They rang the doorbell and when Daniel answered they showered him with a TON of silly string.  It was pretty intense--haha!  Afterward it took Daniel and Sarah over an hour to clean it all up off the porch.  However, it was impossible to get everything. I think I will have the remnants of silly string and confetti on the porch for years to come--haha!
I had a chance and time to go to the Ogden temple a few weeks ago and do a session.  I always love the temple grounds in spring time.  They have so many beautiful flowers especially tulips that are so pretty.
Noah has been doing track this spring.  He had his first meet a few weeks ago.  He got to run the 400 meter and the 4x200 meter relay race.  It has been a good experience for him.  Here he is running one of the races:
Speaking of Noah two weeks ago he tried out for the Junior High Jazz band.  He tried out last year and didn’t make it.  There aren’t a bunch of positions for percussion members so he was a bit bummed he didn’t make it last year.  However, this year he made for one of the piano player spots which is pretty cool. He is so excited! I am excited for him, too.  However, that means a bit more practicing will need to happen at home...we can both look forward to an upcoming argument *ahem*--cough cough-- I mean ’discussion’ in the future about practicing, but it will be fine I am sure--haha! He is super excited nonetheless!

The second Layton temple open house reservation was for this past Saturday.  We were able to take G&G T along with us.  It was so beautiful to see the sunlight through all the stain glass windows throughout the temple.
Getting our booties on to go through:
We were glad to go with G&G T:
Noah is still doing soccer and liking it. He has been able to play goalie a few times.  Between track and soccer he has built up his stamina in the last month, but it hasn’t been his most favorite thing, though, but he is doing good.
Last week Sarah got really sick.  She spiked a fever early Monday morning (2 am-ish since she came to wake me up to help her).  Her fever was 102 degrees and it stayed up around there all week.  Every time the ibuprofen and Tylenol wore off her fever came right back.  She had no other symptoms other than feeling pretty lethargic and crappy all week.  I finally took her in to Urgent care one evening only expecting them to tell me it was just a virus and to wait it out.  When we got there they tested her for Strep, Flu, and Covid. Much to our surprise she tested postive for Strep throat.  What?!?  She had no sore throat which is one of the hallmark signs.  Also in the past any time any of the kids got strep throat I did, too.  I don’t have it and never got it which was another shocker, but I am happy about that part!!  She got started on antibiotics and is slowly, but surely starting to feel better--poor girl.  It was so strange!!  Sophie loved having a snuggle partner all week, though:

Waiting to be seen at Urgent Care:
Of course this all happens when Aaron is out of town on a business trip.  Ugh!! Oh well it got taken care of so no worries.

Speaking of Sarah two Sundays ago she was able to receive her Patriarchal Blessing.  It was such a wonderful experience.  Aaron and I were grateful to be there for that and that she chose to get hers at that time.

Sarah had her Prom coming up and wanted help painting her nails.  I was more than happy to help, despite not being very good at painting nails.  I got my reading glasses on (it stinks getting old) and helped her out.  I had no idea Aaron took this picture until after.  Had I known I probably would have tried to smooth the bed head a bit better--haha!
Josh is training to run the Ragnar race with his team in a few weeks.  The Ragnar race will be down in Zion National Park.  He is running with an 8 member team.  The race takes 24 hours to complete so it will be an all nighter and then some for the team.  Each team member will run 15 miles each broken up into differing segments ranging from 4 miles up to 7 miles with varying difficulty.  Each team member will run three different segments. The entire race is 150 miles total.  He is really looking forward and training for it.

He has been doing some trail running to build up his endurance.  He has been enjoying the recent nice weather which allows him to run outside and has been trying out a few different waterfall trails:
Josh decided to get a Lagoon season pass for this year and has been going with a bunch of friends.  The YSA had a regional dance that he went to a few weeks ago, too.  The theme was the 80s and he dressed up in a brightly colored track suit to go along with the theme.  It was funny!
As a family we have been doing the daily Wordle puzzle and comparing scores.  It has been pretty fun to tease and get teased about our scores.

We had a Relief Society activity this past Thursday. We learned about different resources and other tips and tricks to improve our scripture study.  It was a great activity.  At the end we got an informational packet of thoughts and quotes to glue throughout our scriptures.  They were different references to specific scriptures to help with anxiety, sadness, faith, repentance, choices, forgiveness, etc.  Then the very last activity of the night was painting a Book of Mormon cover.  They had many designs to choose from.  Here’s how mine turned out:
Prom was this past Saturday.  It was Daniel’s last Prom and Sarah’s first Prom which is crazy.  Anyway, the group Daniel was in decided to do their day date last week since everyone else had other stuff going on the day of Prom.  They went to Crystal Hot Springs and then they rented some inflatable balls to have fun with.  Here’s an example:
Daniel is not a big picture taker so I don’t have very many pictures of everything they did.  However, I made sure to take a picture of him before he left to start his evening Prom date portion.
Sarah’s Prom date started that morning when their group went to the Aquarium down in Draper.  They then got lunch at Ikea afterward.  When they got back I got to help Sarah with some of her hair and makeup.  She did a lot of it with some her group of friends beforehand.  Here she is before she started her portion of the evening Prom date:
Here’s a few of Sarah’s Dance pictures with her date, Mike:

I didn’t get any pictures from Daniel, however, one of my friend’s sons was in Daniel’s group and she was there when they took pictures.  She was kind enough to send me some since I didn’t get any from Daniel himself--haha!  Daniel and Katie got a light up corsage and boutonniere which were pretty cool:

I did get these pictures later on:

Sarah and Daniel both had a great time with their dates and groups!

Matthew played a musical number in sacrament meeting last Sunday.  As always he was pretty excited about it.  He yelled and ran the whole way up to the piano.  However, as soon as he sits at the piano he is so reverent and quiet as he plays his piece, but after he gets done playing he runs and yells the whole way back to our bench.  He is a crazy kid!  He stayed with us the whole entire weekend this week. He came to stay with us Saturday so he could get a chance to practice his musical number at the church on the piano there to get familiar with that piano Saturday evening. Then he stayed over until Monday morning.  He had to go and see the orthodontist to get his permanent retainer glued back on.  It had come undone from a few of his teeth.  After seeing the orthodontist I had to take him to get a fasting blood draw at the lab. It was just a routine lab draw to check some blood levels which all came back to be normal.  Here he is leaving the lab after he got his blood drawn:
Since he was fasting for his blood draw he was hungry.  I took him out to breakfast afterward before I dropped him off for work.  We had a good morning.  Here we are eating breakfast in the car:
The next few weeks starts us into May otherwise known as May-hem!  It will be a busy time for sure!!

Spring Break, Birthdays, Senior Pictures, Conference, Eclipse, Soccer

Here’s what we have been up to the last two weeks.  Noah had a birthday.  He wanted to go out to lunch with just Aaron and me so that’s what we did.  He chose Cafe Rio and it was good.  His birthday always seems to fall on Spring Break so we didn’t have to worry about missing any school.
After lunch Noah wanted to go miniature golfing with the family.  Sarah and Matthew had to work unfortunately, but Aaron, me, Daniel, Josh and Noah were all able to play.  It is glow in the dark mini golf which was fun.
We had a few people try and pull off a few mulligans when they would hit the ball off the course/hole we were on.  That lead to some ‘discussions' at the end as to who really won the game....I still say it was me, but Daniel vehemently disagrees and says it was him--haha!  Overall it was a fun afternoon.
Noah got a new bike for his birthday which he was pretty excited about.  He has ridden to school everyday since he got it.

General Conference was this past weekend.  Sunday morning Aaron made his traditional big breakfast for everyone.  This time we had build your own breakfast sandwiches which were pretty good.

Then we all sat and watched Conference.  I would be lying if I didn’t say it was through closed eyes at times...haha!

Sophie’s favorite thing in the world is to snuggle with her people.  She loved that she had so many choices of people to snuggle with.
I must say we do have a Derpy dog...haha!  When she falls asleep her eyes roll in the back of her head and she gets some 'crazy eyes’ and looks ridiculous.
Noah wanted his birthday dinner for Sunday dinner so we could be together as a family and that Grandma and Grandpa T could come eat with us.  Noah chose DIY Crunch Wraps for dinner.  Then he chose an ice cream cake for his birthday cake.
He was able to blowout all of the candles on his cake:
We were glad G&G T could join us for dinner.
Everyone got loves as they left:

Monday was the solar eclipse.  We didn’t make it to an area with totality, but we did have a decent amount of the sun hidden.  I met up with Aaron at lunch so we could look at it with our nerdy eclipse glasses.
I put the nerdy glasses over my camera on my phone and did manage to get this shot:
Daniel got to see it while at high school.  I don’t know if Sarah and Noah got a chance to see it, though.

Josh got to see it on Weber State campus through one of the telescopes.  Here’s the picture he took of it:
It was pretty cool, but I find it a bit eerie.  Just to have everything go a bit darker and stay that way for a bit is just...different.

Later that day Noah had a soccer match we were able to and watch.
Noah also got to be goalie for the second half of the game:
Noah got to make a small scale wind turbine that creates electricity in school in one of his classes.  I thought that was pretty cool!
Late Monday evening everyone was finally home to help celebrate Josh’s birthday except Matthew--he and G&G T helped celebrate it the day earlier, though.  Josh chose to have tri tip for his dinner.  Then he chose a Better than Anything cake for his birthday cake.
He wasn’t able to blow all his candles out at once so we will see if his wish comes true:
He turned the BIG 21!  Of course we don’t drink, but to be funny he bought some cream soda and poured himself a glass to make it look a bit more adult-ish, but it was only cream soda:
He has been staying busy between school, work and other fun things.  Here’s a few people from Institute:
This is one of Josh’s favorite homework spots.  I wonder how effective of a spot it is for homework, though--haha!
Every Conference there is a mission reunion.  Josh was excited to be able to go and see some of his old mission companions and friends.

Sunday there was a Young Single Adult devotional.  Josh talked Sarah in to going with him.  They both said it was pretty good.
Matthew was excited this week to find out that he got the weeks he chose for Camp K this summer.  He is really looking forward going back there this summer for a few weeks.
Daniel and some of his friends had a ‘Friends’ Easter egg hunt.  It looks like it was pretty successful:
Over Spring Break Daniel got his Senior Pictures taken.  We got them back and they turned out great.  Here is what they look like.  For some reason some of the edges got cut off on some of the these pictures when I downloaded them to the blog.  In the original pictures that didn’t happen:

Now we need to make his graduation announcements and order his cap and gown.  I can’t believe he is graduating next month!!
