Rogue One, Released, Swimming, Jazz Game, Temple Square, Christmas Prep, Jam, Sophie

This week has been a bit slower paced which has been nice.  Daniel got invited to go with a friend to the Jazz basketball game last Wednesday night.  He was so excited.  The morning of the game he found his Jazz jersey and wore it to school just so he would be ready to go when he left for the game that night.  What a funny kid!  When they got there they sat in a suite with all you can eat food.  Daniel was in heaven.  He sampled quite a few things.  It made my night, though, when the friend's dad that took them texted me and told me that Daniel had said my home made food tasted better than the food at the buffet.  That really made happy to hear that!!

The boys got their pictures taken by the mascots at the pre-game party.

 They had some good seats.
It was a good night for everyone because the Jazz even won their game.  Wahoo!  We were so glad Daniel was able to go!!

Last Saturday the kids wanted to see the new Star Wars movie and Aaron and I decided to surprise them and take them to a matinee Saturday afternoon.  Although we reserved our seats online when we bought the tickets, Aaron still made us show up early to the theater.  We enjoyed the theater to ourselves for about 30 minutes before any other people started coming to take their seats.  What a funny guy.  Here we are enjoying the empty theater until everyone else got there:
After the movie we came home and quickly changed into our swimming suits because it was the semi annual autism swimming party.  There is a company that specializes in meeting the needs of autistic kids and adults and twice a year they reserve the South Davis Aquatic Center for an after hours swimming party for autistic individuals and their families.  They provide this service for free which was even better!  They also had Santa there you could get pictures with.  Matthew was so excited to see Santa that he ran way ahead of us and cut in line to get his picture with him.  Since he had already gotten his picture with Santa he was ready to swim so our whole family didn't get a picture with Santa.  Oh well, what can you do?!  They texted the picture to me:
Oh it was so cold that night.   I think it was around 19 degrees.  Let me tell you walking out into that cold air after swimming with our wet hair, wet shirts, shorts and wearing just our flip flops it was COLD.  We couldn't get the heater to heat the car up fast enough on the way home!! Brrrrrr!  It was a fun night, though.  It was also an interesting night, too, because our kids are getting old enough that they don't really need mine or Aaron's help while in the pool anymore.  There was only one area where Noah couldn't touch, but the rest of the time Aaron and I stood in the water at the side of the pool just keeping track of everyone.  The kids were all over, too, from the twisty slide, to the lazy river, to the kid play area and the lap pool it was hard to keep track of everyone!  It made me a bit sad to see how old my kids are getting, but it was nice because we were able to sit in the hot tub together for a few minutes without worrying about the kids which was nice.  That is something that hasn't happened for YEARS!

The weekend went by really fast.  It was hard Monday morning because Aaron left to go out of town. BOO!  Who goes out of town the week of Christmas?!  I wasn't too happy about that trip, but at least I wasn't working this week so it made things a lot easier.  It was a short trip so it wasn't too bad, but still the week of Christmas?!  Aaron wasn't too happy about it either, but can understand a bit because the guy that planned it is single and doesn't have any kids so he doesn't have to worry about getting everything ready for Christmas for a bunch of people.  Aaron got back home about 1 am Wednesday morning.

Monday night I got to take Noah to his basketball practice.  He is the one wearing the yellow jersey in the picture.  He was interesting to watch.  Good thing most of the kids are clueless about basketball at that age so Noah fit right in--haha!
This week was a short week since it was leading up to Christmas.  The kids got out of school Wednesday after a short day.  I was glad to see that Grandma T was well enough to go and volunteer in Noah's class Tuesday.  Noah was so excited to see Grandma T at school again.  I am glad she is able to be up and moving around so well after such craziness that last two months!

Tuesday afternoon after Matthew got home from school his after school program person was here to pick him up.  A few minutes after I thought they had gone Matthew came back into the house to tell me his after school program leader's car wouldn't start.  DOH!   Luckily, it was just a dead battery so I was able to find our jump starter cables in the garage, pull out the Suburban and jump start his car.  I was glad I was home!  Good thing I have had so much experience with jump starting cars I knew just what to do--haha!

The last day Sarah got to make a gingerbread house out of graham crackers.  She was so proud to show me.  It was a good thing I looked at it when I did because shortly after Sarah and her siblings made short work of it and ate it.  Crazy kids!
Josh was able to bring home his finished boxers/shorts he had completed sewing in his FACS class.  He was pretty proud of them.
Wednesday evening the youth had a combined activity where they rode Frontrunner down to see the lights at Temple Square.  Matthew was beyond excited.  The YM president asked Matthew to find out pricing and the schedule for Frontrunner a few weeks ago and that is all everyone has heard about the last two weeks!  I am sure everyone was so glad this trip finally happened--haha!  I was proud of Matthew, though, because he did call UTA by himself and ask all the questions we had gone over together before the call and got the answers he needed to pass on to those planning the trip.  I was actually pretty impressed he was able to do that with only a little help by me in deciding what questions he would need to ask.  Good job Matthew!

I was sad because I wasn't able to go on this trip since I just got released from YW last week.  I was so sad to be released and put back into primary.  I am now an Activity Days leader instead of Personal Progress Leader and the Girl's Camp Assistant.  Oh well at least I now will get to be with Sarah and the lady I will work with is awesome so that is nice.  I am sad that I am out of YW, though.

This was my first activity they had after I got released so I wasn't there.  In looking at the pictures they seemed to have had a good time, though.  Here's the whole group as they were waiting for Frontrunner to come:
Matthew was so excited to ride Frontrunner.  He made sure he wore his Frontrunner hat, Frontrunner gloves and safety vest.  He tried to bring his extra safety vests for the leaders to wear, but we made him put them back away.  What a funny kid!  Matthew was so excited to see Ashlyn who is a sweet girl who is so nice to Matthew.  She lets him eat lunch at High school with her and her friends every day and I am so thankful for that.  She is one of those genuinely good people with a heart of gold.  Matthew loves seeing her every Sunday at church and every day at lunch. He was also excited to see her at the activity, too:
Josh was there, too.  He is so tall!  He finally completely passed Aaron by and is now sitting at 6'2" tall.  It is crazy!  He towers over all the Deacons in our ward.  I have no idea where he got his height from, either!  Aaron and I are just wondering when his growth spurt will stop.  He is growing out of clothes (especially pants) so fast--it is crazy!  Anyway, he had fun at Temple Square, too:
If you wonder which one he is just look for the tallest kid in the group--haha!
They even went to the top of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building to see entirety of Temple Square from above:
They walked all over to see the lights and sites:
Inside the Tabernacle:

Matthew was so excited riding Frontrunner down and back.  I am sure there was a lot of hand flapping going on :).
Matthew made sure he talked to any and every UTA employee he saw--at least that is what the leaders told me--haha!
From seeing the pictures it looked like a fun trip!

It appears Matthew is getting good at photobombing pics--haha!
This week has been pretty crazy in getting everything ready for Christmas.  Aaron and I had our annual wrapping party.  We order a pizza and watch Arrested Development on Netflix while we wrap presents.  I am happy to have that checked off my to do list!!

Yesterday we finally got around to making neighbor gifts.  Josh helped me make soda jam.  We made Pineapple Passion fruit soda jam and Strawberry soda jam.  They are interesting flavors.  I hope our neighbors like them with the fresh loaf of bread.  Here's what the jams looked like:
Yesterday the primary had a Polar Express party for the kids.  I was amazed.  They had all the primary kids for two and a half hours!  Wow--that's a long time!  The kids dressed in their pajamas and brought their blankets.  They also had their punch ticket to get on the 'train' so they could watch the entire Polar Express movie.  The kids had a good time.

Sophie is a spoiled dog.  I pet her, but whenever I stop she will paw my hand to make me start petting her again.  She is so spoiled!!  Have I mentioned that?!  Here's a clip of what she will do when I stop petting her the crazy dog:

Un-Midas Touch, Car Troubles AGAIN, Work, Field Trips, First Presidency, Excitement

Well things have been busy so nothing out of the ordinary :)  Here's our family happenings of the last 9 days.

Last Monday was not a very good day.  I got a call early in the morning (which is never a good sign) and it was Aaron.  Let me preface this story saying that after we got the green truck's fuel pump fixed the gas gauge didn't work so you had to keep track of your mileage so you didn't run out of gas.  Unfortunately, Aaron didn't keep very good track of his mileage and ran out of gas about a quarter mile from his work building about 6:30 am on a very windy and chilly morning when he had only worn his jacket instead of his coat.  Brrrr!  He had to walk the rest of the way to work and find someone to help him out.  For some reason last year they don't let Department of Defense Employee spouses on base anymore so I couldn't go and help him.  Luckily, he found someone to tow the truck into the parking lot and to take Aaron to pick up some gas.  Aaron called me after the ordeal to tell me about it.  Not the funnest way to start off a Monday for sure.  However, when he came home from work it got worse.  About a mile away from our house the truck overheated and Aaron had to pull over on the side of the road.  He got out and saw there was antifreeze all over the road.  When he tried to poor in more antifreeze it poured straight out of the bottom of the truck like the truck wasn't holding any of it.  BOO!  He wasn't quite sure what the problem was, but it wasn't going to be a good one.  We think that truck is cursed!  We have only had it for about two months, but have had nothing but problems with it.  We can't blame the previous owners because there was no way they could have foreseen these problems.  We just gambled on an older vehicle and lost with this one.  Aaron and I seem to have the Un-Midas touch where everything we touch turns to crap.  Oh it can be so frustrating!  Anyway, we ended up towing it back to our house with the suburban not knowing exactly what to do with the un-driveable truck.  Good thing I got good at towing things when I was a teenager and had crazy cars and a boyfriend with a clunker where we got lots of practice with towing!  Who knew that would come in handy later in life?!  Anyway, Aaron had a few ideas of what the problem could be and none of them were a cheap fix.  Aaron called Grandpa T to talk about it and he agreed that it wasn't an easy fix.  The next day I had to work, but Grandpa T came over to take a look at the truck.  Later that night Aaron and he also looked at it and decided it was beyond fixing because it most likely had something to do with the engine.  It was sad because it was in good shape when we got it.   The engine only had 155,000 miles on it which is really low considering it was over 20 years old.  The Suburban is only 7 years old and it already has over 136,000 miles on it which is crazy since when we got it, it only had 18,000 miles on it.  Anyway, we had given up hope on the truck and were looking at unloading it at a scrapyard when we got a chance.  However, when Aaron went to work the next day the guy who had helped tow it when it ran out of gas told Aaron he was very interested in the truck and wanted to buy it.  Aaron went on to explain all the things that were wrong with it, but the guy was still very interested in buying it.  The guy had a brother that had an auto mechanic shop where he could fix it up.  Again Aaron told him all the problems with the truck, but the guy was still really interested so Aaron agreed to sell him the truck.  Maybe running out of gas the previous morning was a blessing in disguise?...Anyway, the guy came and picked it up Wednesday afternoon.  Aaron helped him load it onto his trailer, but then he had to go because he had to do Pack Meeting for Cub Scouts that night.  Since the truck was loaded Aaron took all the kids to Pack Meeting with him since I was at work.  Unfortunately, the truck still seemed to be cursed in some way because when the guy finished strapping the truck down he got in to drive away when his trailer tire blew out.  Aaron wasn't home to help him change it so the poor guy had to knock on our neighbors doors until he could find someone to help him with borrowing some tools.  Luckily we have some pretty great neighbors who were able to help him get that dang truck out of our hair.  We are looking to purchase a car to replace it, but not until after the New Year because I am done messing with cars for right now.  Aaron has been driving the old blue truck to work and it has been working out perfectly.  Even though the blue truck's gas gauge doesn't work either, Aaron has been keeping better track of how many miles he has been driving so he won't run out of gas again especially since it has been really cold, windy and stormy as of late.  Gotta love car problems...

I have had to get up super early for work Aaron has been harassing me about it.  Since it is usually him that gets up early he thinks it is really funny when my alarm goes off at 4 am and he can roll over and go back to sleep.  When it was him getting up early I would show him this meme and smile.

He now does the same thing back to me--haha!  Not all of my shifts are morning ones, though I do a few afternoon/evening swing shifts, too.  However, I finish up my last shift of the semester this week so he won't be able to laugh at me until I start back up again in March.

Let me tell you about my job....I get to the skilled nursing facility early early in the morning and greet the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) students as they get there for their 8 hour clinical.  I take them on a tour of the facility and then pair them up with real CNAs from the facility that they will spend the shift with doing actual hands on learning.  After making assignments I round on the students every 45 minutes to make sure they are working and learning the things they need to learn in addition to make sure they are getting along with their assigned CNA.  I am also responsible to make sure they all get their lunch breaks in as well.  While they are on their lunch breaks we practice their manual blood pressures skills.  Then the last 40 minutes of the shift we gather together again and I teach them and go over different topics to make sure they understand them.  In between teaching and rounding I hang out and work on filling out the students evaluation forms.  In between doing all that I can read or do whatever until it is time to round again or teach.  It has been a pretty fun job that I have enjoyed.  There are 7 facilities that the students do their clinicals out of.   I get sent to each one different times so I am not always at the same facilities for each clinical.  Most of the time things run smoothly.  There have been a few hiccups, but nothing bad.  For the most part the students do really well.  I also work with their high school instructors, too.  They try and round on their students once a shift, however, they don't always make it so they text the clinical instructors to see how things are going.  Yesterday I got the text from one of the high school instructors which just made my day.  She was checking up on her students and then let me know that the students had enjoyed working with me.  Wahoo!  That made my day!

This last week I was sent to a facility for a few shifts.  Where they have me hang out in between doing rounds is a private dining room.  For some reason the heater does not work in this room.  There was no thermostat, but I am sure the temperature was in the 50s inside the room and it didn't help that it was surrounded in windows that let in even more cold air from outside.  It was SOOOO COLD!!!  I had no idea the room would be so cold so the first time I was there I didn't have a coat or anything but my flimsy nursing lab jacket.  I froze all that day.  Once we are at the facility we cannot leave so I couldn't do anything about it.  The next shift, though, I was prepared.  I wore a long sleeve shirt under my scrub top as well as my nursing lab jacket with my winter coat on top and I still froze all day long.  I texted this picture to Aaron that morning saying that I was so cold.

He was so mean and texted this picture of him still in bed under the warm covers and said, "I am so warm and comfy!"  Isn't he mean?!
However, since we like to tease I am sure I would have done the same thing had our roles been switched--haha!

Aaron had the morning off since he was going on a field trip with Daniel's class as a chaperone.  They went to see an 3D IMAX film about the Galapagos Islands.  Aaron is so glad to have a flexible job where he can do these fun school things with the kids.  They got to get a drink and popcorn:
They got to wear some sweet 3D glasses, too:
After the movie Aaron went to work and Daniel's class rode the bus back to school since this was only a morning field trip.  They had fun spending time together.

I had a big surprise this week.  I went to get the mail when I noticed there was a letter from the First Presidency addressed to Matthew.
Even though it was to Matthew I opened it up to read it.  Yep I am one of those moms!!
You can click on the picture to enlarge it to read the letter.  It was really sweet.  I asked Matthew about it when he got home from school.  Matthew said in his special needs seminary class the teacher all had them write thank you letters to people they are thankful for.  Matthew chose to write President Monson.  His seminary teacher even addressed the envelope and put a stamp on it.  When Matthew got home that afternoon he had his after school program staff take him to a mailbox so he could drop the letter off in the mail right before Thanksgiving.  I had no idea any of that had even happened so I was really surprised to see a letter from the First Presidency in our mailbox.  I was happy that Matthew got a response back.  He was so excited to take the letter to school to show his seminary class.

Yesterday Daniel was at a friends house when he came home with a dog.  I guess this dog had been wandering around the neighborhood so he decided to bring it home so I could find the owners.  Hmmm.  I had no idea whose dog that was.  Besides he didn't like Sophie.  She was trying to play with him he would just growl at her.  I ended up calling animal control to come pick him up since he didn't have any tags or even a collar.  There was no way to even find out who the owner was.  Luckily, animal control was in our area and about the time I called them, the dogs owner had called animal control to report their dog as missing.  The animal control officer brought the missing dogs family along and they all had a reunion in our front yard.  Wahoo!  Party at our house.
He was a cute dog, but Sophie was so sad he didn't like her.  She just wanted someone to play with.  Oh well, maybe in the future we can get her a friend, but hopefully her friend will want to play with her and not just growl and nip at her.
Aaron has a few hoodies that I LOVE wearing.  He doesn't mind for the most part, but I thought this was pretty funny so I showed him and he laughed, too:
We got our new 2015 and the first part of 2016 blog books in the mail this week.  The kids were so excited to see them.  They like reading those as their daily reading homework.  That makes me happy and gives me more incentive to keep blogging since the kids love reading about our family history.  The year of 2015 had too many pictures so we had to break it up into two books.  The same with 2016, but we are waiting to print the last half of 2016 until it is actually finished--haha!  So does this mean I am a published author--haha?!

2015 Part 1:
2015 Part 2:
2016 Part 1:
This past week was a bit hectic so we were looking forward to just vegging Friday night after the kids went to bed.  That lasted all of about 30 minutes before Noah had snuck out of his bedroom because he needed lubs.  He crawled up in my lap and Aaron and I started watching a show.  About 20 minutes into the show I looked over to see Noah and Aaron were fast asleep.  What exciting weekenders we are.  At least I got to watch my show uninterrupted except if you count the snoring....haha!  What you can't see is a sleeping Sophie curled up by Aaron on the couch, too.  Another exciting Friday night at the Mancil house:
The next morning Daniel started basketball.  He only had a practice that morning so we were just going to drop him off and go down to Farmington to get my phone fixed.  Our neighbor saw us and took Daniel to the basketball practice with her son since they are on the same team so we could not have to drop him off.  It was so nice.  They even brought him home since they were done fixing my phone by the time the practice was over.  I love awesome people who are willing to help!!

As for my phone it will randomly shut off even though it says I have 40+% battery life left.  This kept happening at random times, but it was happening more and more often so I really needed to get it fixed.  I needed to have a reliable phone.  Luckily, Apple had just released a statement saying that phones that were bought at the same time we got mine were having battery issues.  Since it was Apple's problem they fixed the battery for free which was nice.  Hopefully, I won't have any more issues with it.  I think it is all related to the Un-Midas touch again--ugh!!  Oh well it keeps things interesting...

Noah started basketball this week, too.  Good thing a lot of the 6 year olds weren't very experienced with basketball so Noah fit right in.  He is the one in the gray shirt standing right under the basket goofing off if you want to know which one Noah is.  He will be the comic relief of the basketball team for the season ;).  At least he enjoys himself, right?!
Saturday afternoon our family went to the Clinton Creche Festival.  It is where all the people in the Clinton area (which was quite a few) lend their nativity scenes to be set up and enjoyed by anyone and everyone who wants to come.  Throughout the two day event they had ongoing entertainment like harp players, choirs, etc. in addition to the nativity scenes.  I let out three of my nativities for them to use.  It was amazing to see all the different scenes everyone has.  Here are the kids looking at just a few of the nativity scenes that were set up:
I was emptying out Matthew's back pack when I came across this 'Gratitude Gram'.  I always worry about Matthew and school.  Since I am not there with him I just hope he isn't teased to badly or made fun of.  I really do worry.  However, when I see small things like this it makes my heart happy.  It is a gratitude gram that was given to Matthew from a kid named Dalton.  It says, "Thank You for being a friend and always talking about the gospel all the time.  Hope Sophie gets Better.  Your Friend Dalton"  I am assuming they did these around Thanksgiving, but Matthew didn't say a word about it.  I was really glad to be able to see it, though.  I am glad there are nice people for Matthew at school!
Last night was Josh's band concert.  As we were waiting for things to get started Noah laid down in my lap and his shirt lifted up a bit and I saw something weird.  I lifted his shirt up the rest of the way to find that Noah drew all over his stomach with a pen.  I have no words.  Oh well what can you do?!  Hopefully he is not aspiring to be a tattoo artist is all I can hope for...
Josh's concert was great.  He is the 4th trumpet from the left side.  Daniel ran upstairs to the balcony to get this shot of Josh's band concert.  Josh really does enjoy band and playing the trumpet.  I am glad he has improved from last year if you know what I mean ;).  It was fun to hear the Christmas songs from all four of the bands that played last night.
We were in the front row so I couldn't get a very good picture of Josh from where I was sitting.  At least he is tall so I could get a head shot, though:
It was all fun and games until we got home from the concert and then Josh told us his Science Fair Project poster was due the next morning.  Are you serious?!  Aaron and I were not happy about that.  So we got started at 9 pm making the poster.  Grrrrrr.  Why do all kids do this?!  He knew it was due a few weeks ago, but put it off until the very last minute.  Oh well with a team effort he got it done.  His science fair project was on measuring which antacid worked best on neutralizing hydrochloric acid.  Using Litmus Paper he measured baking soda, Maalox, and Tums to see which one worked the best.  Baking Soda seemed to neutralized the acid the best which was interesting.  Here's Josh showing off his last minute Science Fair Poster--grrrrr!
When Josh got his braces off the orthodontist told him the importance of keeping his retainer and case out of a dogs reach.  Well finding his chewed up case this morning I don't think he really listened too well.

Good thing Sophie is cute because she is such a chewer!  We should have named her Chewy!  Luckily, she didn't get to his actual retainer inside the case, but I am sure there is some dog saliva that got inside it, though.  Icky!!  Hopefully, this will be a wake up call for Josh to keep it out of Sophie's reach.

Speaking of Sophie we got a message from our neighbors about her.  I had completely spaced that our neighbor works graveyards and tries to sleep during the day.  Unfortunately, whenever we let Sophie out to potty she tends to be a bit yappy and it was interfering with our poor neighbor's sleep.  When we got the message I felt horrible.  I know what working graveyards is like especially not being able to sleep the next day.  We quickly got Sophie a bark collar to try and curb the barking, but I don't know how much it works.  It supposedly gives off a warning beep before it shocks the dog, but that hasn't always worked.  I know it sends a warning beep when the kids are yelling at each other, but Sophie wasn't barking.  Sophie will just look at me like what am I doing wrong?!  She is afraid of the shocks--poor thing.  Hopefully it will work just enough to get her to stop being so yappy then she won't have to wear it anymore.  Oh crazy dog!!

CrAzY Week, Glitter Slime, Improvables, Morning With Moms, Career Night, Nativity

What a CraZy week I have had!!  It started out when Aaron found out he was going out of town on a business trip last minute.  BOO!  The bad thing was I had to work three shifts while he was going to be gone which wasn't a good thing since my kids would be left unsupervised for too long.  He left Monday morning to go back to LA since he hadn't gotten enough of California from our trip a few weeks ago--haha!  He actually just flew in to LAX and then drove out to China Lake for business.  Of course it snowed like crazy that whole day.  Monday morning I had to take Aaron to the airport and then come back and volunteer in school.  Then I had to leave to go to work back down in Salt Lake from 2pm to 10 pm.  Both trips were pretty crazy since it was snowing hard most of the day.  Ugh.  I really like the snow as long as I don't have to drive in it, but it is not as nice when I do have to drive in it.  Anyway, seeing as I didn't want to leave my kids unsupervised for all afternoon/evening Grandpa T was kind enough to come and referee things from 6:30pm to 8:00pm just to make sure everyone got fed dinner, took their medication and make sure everyone got ready for bed without too much fighting.  I didn't even want to try refereeing from afar so I was really grateful Grandpa T could come and help me out.  It is nice having some older boys, too, since they were able to shovel the driveway and sidewalk for me before it froze over.  I didn't get home until 11pm and I was so glad I didn't have to wait and shovel it then.  It was a crazy day.  The next morning Daniel told me that all the kids had started fighting when Grandpa T clearly told them to stop in a bit louder voice.  Since they don't ever hear Grandpa raise his voice they all immediately stopped and were good kids the rest of the night.  I might need to borrow Grandpa T a bit more often because they kids don't listen to me like that--haha!

The next day I had to volunteer again and then that afternoon I had to help Sarah make her Economics Fair project since they were having the Economics Fair the next day.  Her project was actually due Tuesday morning, but since I wasn't home all Monday night we weren't able to make it until Tuesday afternoon. Sarah wanted to make Glitter Slime.  I tried a few different suggestions like making bracelets or necklaces, etc. but she had her heart set on making slime just like Josh and Daniel did when they had their Economics Fair.  She picked the colors green and blue to dye the slime and we also added in glitter to make it a bit different from all the other slimes that would be sold.  Here is Sarah, Noah and myself making the slime Tuesday night:
Wednesday I had to work the morning shift from 5:45 am to 2 pm.  That meant I had to get up at 4 am so I could get their by 5:30am so I could orient myself to the facility before the CNA students got there.  Ugh--that's early!!  Anyway, since Aaron was gone I had to have everyone get their stuff out and ready for the next day Tuesday night to make sure they knew where everything was since I wasn't going to be around at all the next morning when they got ready for the day.  Luckily, they seemed to get to school ok--meaning I didn't get any calls from the school which is a good sign--haha!

I got home at afternoon at 2:45 pm and things were a bit crazy.  I had to get homework done, feed the kids dinner and then I had a meeting for Young Women at 5:45 pm which went until our activity started at 7 pm.  I just so happened to be in charge of that activity that night as well.  We had another career night where we had three guest speakers come and talk to the girls about being a realtor, a financial planner and an interior designer.  All three did an amazing job and we all learned a lot.  The young men had a court of honor, but since I couldn't be in two places at once we put off getting the boys' awards until next court of honor so Aaron and I could both be there to see them receive their awards.  That meant all 5 kids were home alone together throughout my meeting and activity.  I threatened them to not call unless it was a major emergency.  Josh interpreted that as meaning please text mom with any problems.  I got regular texts about every 20 minutes the whole night about kids tattling on each other--ugh!!  I was really missing Aaron at this point. Anyway I got home and got everyone in to bed including me.  I was running on fumes at this point.

The next morning was Morning with Mom at the elementary school.  I got Josh and Matthew off to school and then I was trying to get the younger three ready early so we could enjoy the morning together at the school.  As we were trying to get out the door Noah couldn't find his shoes and a light bulb fell out of Sarah's bathroom socket and shattered all over the vanity top.  DOH!  Come to find out Noah had crawled up on the vanity and had been playing with the light bulbs and that's why one fell out and shattered.  Good thing I love that kid because I was about at the end of my rope by that morning.  I got it all cleaned up and we were able to find Noah's shoes.  We did finally make it to Morning with Mom for a few minutes.  It was long enough for the kids to all get a donut so they were all happy.
That morning it was the Economics Fair for the 3rd grade.  The entire 3rd grade makes different projects to sell.  The rest of the school is invited to come and browse/buy any projects they think are interesting or would be good Christmas presents.  Sarah even made her own sign without any help from me.  I was pretty impressed after she was done with it.  Here's my cute entrepreneur:
She sold all of her slime.  I had to buy some and Noah and Daniel were nice brothers and bought some from her, too.  It is a fun experience for the 3rd graders and a great fund raiser for the school at the same time.

Since I was running on fumes by Thursday I was overjoyed to go and pick Aaron up from the airport that afternoon.  As soon as we got home I told him I was on break and took a little quiet time for myself.  That's when I came across some candid pictures that were taken by the Epilepsy Day at Disneyland photographer.  It reminded me that we really did have a fun time in Disneyland while we were there.

Here's our group photo.  We are on the right side towards the back, but are really almost impossible to see.  We are in the picture, though!
Thursday afternoon Daniel had an orthodontic appointment.  I had to call ahead and warn the staff that Daniel's spring had fallen off his braces and he had somehow swallowed it.  When I told them that they were really quiet on the phone and just said that they would make a note of it.  Sigh.  Our kids keep us on our toes!!  Luckily, they had a spare spring they were able to replace it with.  I now keep asking Daniel what he would like for dinner and if I could interest him in eating a spring--haha!  He doesn't think I am very funny, though.  Anyway that afternoon Josh brought home his finished pillowcase that he made in his FACS class.  He picked out the Star Wars fabric and sewed the whole thing himself.  Wahoo, Josh!
The next morning was completely bizarre.  I had to work the day shift while Aaron had the day off since it was his Friday off.  It was so weird!!  Aaron didn't quite know what to do with himself since he never has time just by himself.  Luckily, Josh had an appointment to get his braces off later that morning so it gave Aaron something to do.  Josh had been waiting patiently for a few weeks to get his braces off so he was excited to get checked out of school for this appointment.  They showed Aaron his before and after X-rays.  You can really see how Josh's bite has changed!
You can see how much the teeth have moved in this X-ray, too:
Here's my handsome teenager's before and after pictures.  It only took 32 months of braces to get straight teeth.
Hopefully he will remember to wear his retainers so we can keep those teeth straight!!

Since the 3rd graders earned tickets for selling their Economics Fair projects they had an auction Friday afternoon for prizes.  Sarah picked out a cute Santa headband:
She also picked out a Star Wars puzzle which we have been working on:
Friday night I got a call from my friend Erin.  She told me she had won a ticket to the Improvables and wanted to know if I wanted to go along with her.  Since I had had such a crazy week I really needed and wanted to get out of the house for a bit so it worked out perfectly.  The Improvables is a comedy group that works like the old show Whose Line is it Anyways where they improv according to different games and suggestions from the audience.  It was a funny show up until they called me out of the audience to be a guest on the stage.  They asked me a BUNCH of questions about my life so they could sing about it.  It was crazy, but funny.  Here's two small clips from the question asking session that Erin recorded:

Then they sang about a 5 minute parody about my day to day life.  It was pretty funny.  I only have about a minute clip of it, but it was hilarious.

After the crazy week I had had it was a fun break with a friend that I really needed!  Thanks for inviting me Erin!!  I really love the Improvables!  They are a family friendly comedy group.  I hadn't seen them for a while, but they were just as funny this time as they were last time.  I loved it!

The next day we had a bit of a lazy Saturday.  Saturday afternoon we did head out to see the Weber County multicultural display Holiday Festival.  It is where they have all kinds of nativity scenes as well as different holiday displays.  Here's just a small glimpse of the many displays they had:
Aaron saw a BYU Santa which he was pretty excited about:
They had one display that you had to use a magnifying glass to see all the sections.  One section had a nativity using grains of rice for Mary, Joseph, the Baby Jesus, Wise Men, etc.  It was crazy!
They also had a really neat display of Temple Square decorated for the holidays:
At the end the kids got to see Santa.  Matthew went to town on his requests and requests for Sophie.  We finally had to stop him so the other kids could get a chance with Santa.
 Noah:
 Daniel:
 Sarah:
Josh was too cool to sit on Santa's lap, but he did allow us to get a family picture with Santa:
We also got to dress up and be part of the Nativity Scene:
At the end they had a Christmas Village you could walk through.
It was a fun night and good ending for such a crazy week!!
