We had to start another blog since we ran out of memory on our old one and I didn't want to pay for extra memory to continue it because I am too cheap. So here's the new one even though it is just a continuation of the old one just with a new blod address. Anyway, it has taken me a while to get a chance to blog. The past few weeks have been pretty crazy. I will start with some explaining of some pictures off my phone. We will start with this one:
I was sitting in the family room when I heard some faint crying saying, "Hep me! Hep me!" I went to see what the problem was and found Noah was stuck half in and half out of Sarah's toy chest in her bedroom and couldn't get down. When he saw me he screamed, "Hep [help] me, Mom!!" It took me a minute to stop laughing before I could help him out of his predicament.
I few weeks ago it snowed quite a bit. It took a while to find the kids' snow clothes, but we finally did. Noah LOVES wearing the kids boots around. He hardly can't even walk while wearing them, but gets really upset if you try and take them off of him. What a funny boy.
Sarah has been practicing writing her name at school and decided to try it at home with
crayon on my dining table. AWESOME! In trying to look at the positive instead of the negative [of like how am I going to get that off my wood table] I can admire how good she is getting at writing her name. It's a good thing I love that child is all I can say!
Especially after that particular morning--not only did she write her name with crayon on my table, she also stuffed so much toilet paper in the toilet she clogged it quite well and then flushed it until the water was just at the brim. She also peed on the floor after getting out of the shower because I didn't get her underwear in time. Then during lunch she spilled her lunch all over and then her and Noah played in it and smeared it everywhere!!! Cleaning up her messes is a full time job!! To complete that wonderful day the boys came home from school and ended up clogging their toilet in the basement. Good Grief!!! Anyway it's a good thing Aaron came home about them because I have an
I only unclog one toilet a day rule and that coupon had been used up by unclogging Sarah's toilet earlier in the day. Aaron was so excited to hear, "Welcome home from work honey. Here's the plunger and may the force be with you!" I love that my husband is able to roll with the punches that having five kids brings!
I must say that I am thankful that my last two kids are good eaters. They pretty much eat most of everything I put in front of them. The other day I fixed some salad for lunch and they begged to have some. I gave them some expecting them not to eat it, but was pleasantly surprised to find their bowls empty and they were asking for some more. They will eat anything.
The other day Sarah and Noah were playing in Sarah's room. I few minutes later I heard some click clacking noises and looked up to see that Noah was wearing Sarah's princess shoes. He thought he was big stuff even if the shoes were on the wrong feet. He wore them for a while, too. When I showed Aaron the picture, he wasn't as excited about it, but I thought it was pretty funny. I love taking future black mail pictures!
Here he is trying to walk in them. What a funny boy!
I like to cook and bake and the kids love helping me whether I want the help or not. Whenever they see or hear my taking out my mixer they come running and climb up on the counter to 'help'. It is usually more work to let them 'help', but they love it so I just grin and bear it. I got all kinds of help especially since we hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year.
We hosted Thanksgiving at our house since it is easier on Matthew to be in familiar surroundings and that way I could make sure Daniel had all kinds of Daniel friendly foods to eat for Thanksgiving dinner. It turned out nice. We got to have G&G T, my niece Miriya, and my sister and her family over for dinner this year. It was a nice Thanksgiving and cooking turkeys don't intimidate me as much as they used to since this was about the 6th turkey I have had a chance to cook.
The next day we went to the Christmas Tree Jubilee up in Ogden. It is something like the Festival of the Trees down in Salt Lake, but this one is free. Friday night they had activities for the kids to do. They got to make some snowflakes and some garland. Here's Josh and Matthew looking at their activity. Matthew is too busy chatting it up with the girls to let them explain how to do it. He's Mr. Chatterbox.
Daniel and Sarah are making their snowflakes.
While we were waiting in line to see Santa they had a creepy mascot Kangaroo wandering around promoting the new Kangaroo Zoo jump house that just opened up. Matthew went over to say hi and Sarah followed. Noah didn't want anything to do with it and I don't blame him.
Finally it was our turn to see Santa and Mrs. Clause. Each kid took a turn and sat in Santa's lap. When it was Josh's turn, he sat down, turned and whispered something to Santa that I didn't hear. Later on after his turn was over he told me what he had whispered to Santa. He told Santa that he thought his wife was smoking hot. WHAT?!?! I was so embarrassed. I asked Josh why in the world did he say that?! He just said he thought it was funny. Did I mention how embarrassed I was?! I wonder what Santa thought--maybe something like
I don't think I heard this kid correctly, or
that was strange, or
hmmmmm how do I respond to that?! Who knows maybe Santa will take it in stride and maybe bring Josh a Mrs. Clause pin up poster for Christmas. Who knew Mrs. Clause could be a pin up girl?! What a weird kid! Anyway, before we did go to see Santa we let the kids write a letter to tell him what they wanted. Matthew's letter went something like this, "Dear Santa, You didn't bring me a train set last year. I would like it now. Matthew" Way to get to the point, Matthew. Josh's list had all kinds of stuff on it like knitting lessons (what?!), ice skates, skis, a swimming pool, drums, disco ball, money, Mini Wheats, etc. These are just a few things off his ginormous list. Daniel was trying to keep up with Josh so he wrote down anything that came to mind. One thing he wrote down is that he wanted a nice family. I asked him why he was asking for a nice family because he already had a nice family. He said he doesn't think we are a nice family because we make him clean up too much. Well if that makes us a not nice family then he is stuck with us unless Santa can pull off a miracle. Here's everyone posing for a pic with Santa and Mrs. Clause.

Hope Josh wasn't getting too hot and bothered by being that close to the smoking hot Mrs. Clause. Again...what a crazy kid!
I made bread the other day and when I do make it, it usually doesn't last long. My recipe makes six loaves, but it usually only lasts a day or two since my kids devour it. It lasts even less time when the kids don't wait for me to help them slice it for toast in the morning and they just hack away at a loaf like they did here:
Since I am the world's lightest sleeper the kids usually wake me up as soon as they come into the kitchen since my bedroom is right next to the kitchen. However, on this particular morning they either were extremely quiet or I was just extremely tired and didn't catch them in time before they massacred the loaf of bread. The worst part is they sliced a chunk of bread off and then tried to force it into the toaster even though it didn't fit. Then it started smoking and burning and that's what woke me up. Smelling smoke is not a fun way to wake up--that's for sure!
For Thanksgiving I cooked a 23 pound turkey so we had some leftovers to use up. Sunday I had just found the perfect recipe to try--turkey roll ups. I was reaching in to a drawer to grab the food processor to start dinner with when I accidentally caught my finger on the very sharp food processor blade (the exact same one that Sarah sliced her toe open with a few months ago) and sliced a big gash into the tip of my finger. I knew right away that the cut was deep and would probably need stitches. I hurried and grabbed a paper towel to wrap around it so it wouldn't get blood everywhere. Then I tried to peek at it and that was a mistake. I started to get woozy--yes I know I am a nurse, but I don't do well when things pertain to my own body. I can handle everyone else's accidents, but not my own. I guess I am funny like that. When I peeked at it I started to see stars and got woozy. I had to sit down for a minute. Aaron decided it probably wasn't a good idea to drive myself to get stitches so he called my brother and sister in law to come sit with my kids while he took me to the hospital. We wanted to go to an InstaCare, but they all close at 5 pm on Sunday night and I cut myself at exactly 4:51 pm--DOH! That meant we had to go to the actual hospital ER which I hate plus it also has a higher copay, but then again beggars can't be choosers so off to the ER we went. Bryan and Michonne and their family came over to watch the kids and we left. I was so thankful for that. They fed my kids dinner and then got them ready for bed for us. It was so nice!! Thank you so much!!! Aaron and I got to hang out in the ER waiting and waiting and waiting until we got taken care of.
They came in and numbed up my finger which I didn't watch, but it was quite painful and made it bleed and bleed and bleed as you can see. We nicknamed it my Fillet-O-Finger.
By the time they came back in to stitch it up the bandage was soaked with blood. It was gross. All in all I ended up with five stitches that I get to wear for the next week. Aren't they lovely?
In getting ready for Christmas we put up our nativities. For the kids we have two they can play with--a Veggie Tales nativity and a Little People nativity. Both of them play music and Noah loves that part. He will stand for long periods of time just pushing both buttons and listening to them play Away in a Manger. He likes it, but Aaron and I are really tired of hearing them. Unfortunately, they don't have batteries that you can easily remove so I guess we will just grin and bear it for the next month.....**Sigh** It is getting even worse since the one battery is running low and the song sounds really weird and disjointed. It's a little unnerving to listen to!
Noah has finally made a stand for himself. We sat down to dinner last night and he refused to get into his high chair. He thinks he is a big boy and should sit at the table like everyone else. It makes me sad, but I knew this day would be coming sooner than later. He is growing up too fast!!
I am glad to say that Sarah is doing really well with the potty. However, whenever she is successful at going #2 in the potty she still thinks she should get a root beer and pretty lips. I can't complain because I am just excited that she is doing so well after what a struggle she put us through in getting potty trained. Yesterday she went stinky and I was busy doing something so I couldn't help her get her pretty lips right away. She didn't want to wait so she helped herself--and she helped Noah, too. He thought he was pretty big stuff when he got to wear some pretty lips, too. Aaron wasn't to happy to see that, but what can you do but laugh?!
She did it again this afternoon and helped herself to the pretty lips and then let Noah have a go around. Good thing I love my little girl!
I know it snowed a few weeks ago, but here are the pics of our family out playing in it. It was Aaron's turn to sleep in that morning so I tried to get everyone dressed in their snow clothes quietly, but it didn't work out so well. Aaron finally gave up on trying to sleep in and came out to help me which I was thankful for. We have to take advantage at this time because the boys actually enjoy shoveling right now. They immediately went to work.
Throwing snow and snowballs at each other.
Noah didn't want to miss out on the shoveling so he went and got his toy lawn mower to help.
After a while Josh and I made a snowman. We found a nice tumbleweed for the hair and some sticks and small twigs for his arms and buttons.
Sarah didn't last as long as everyone else so by the time we went back inside she was getting pretty whiny.
Everyone had fun, but we were all ready to come back inside after we were soaken wet and cold. Nothing some hot chocolate doesn't cure, though.
These pictures are out of order, but here's our visit to see Santa and the hot Mrs. Clause. Daniel's turn to tell Santa about how he wants a nice family:
Matthew's turn to ask him why he didn't bring him a train set last year:
Josh's turn. I think Santa is still trying to digest what Josh said about his wife:
Sarah's turn. She just wanted to candy cane:
Noah's turn. He didn't quite know what to think about it, but he was fine once they handed him a candy cane. He probably just thought, "Candy from strangers--sure, no problem."
Here's one of the decorated trees we saw for the Christmas Tree Jubilee:

Two Saturdays ago was my Grandma Terry's funeral in Provo. She had spent the last week of her life in the hospital sick with sepsis. It was sad to see her pass away, but knowing that she is not suffering anymore is comforting. She had spent the previous four years in a care center suffering from dementia so it is nice to know she is in a better place now. Her funeral was nice. Every child got a chance to speak and it was nice to hear the stories about her some of them I had never heard before. All 150+ of her grandkids, greatgrandkids and great great grandkids got a chance to stand up and sing I am a Child of God which was nice. She was buried in Provo cemetery close to her own parents' graves which was nice. After the graveside service we took a few minutes to wander by her parents gravestone to look at them. Afterward we went over to their old chapel where they had attended church for over 70 years and had a nice family dinner. It was nice to visit with everyone even if it was under not very pleasant circumstances. In December my grandma would have turned 90 years old. Her and my grandpa had been married for almost 72 years. I hope I can make it that long!!
